Time zone problems

I just installed this and I'm having a problem with time zones. my isc file is in GMT however I am in AEST (Australia), when I use isc4OL the resulting calendar in outlook has not been adjusted to the local time zone correctly. Any suggestions? I'm using outlook 2007.

Re: Time zone problems

Hallo

Please send me your ics file by email and describe for 2-3 events, at what time they are shown and what time would be correct...

Thanks

Re: Time zone problems

Unfortunately it is a corporate calendar and the company I work for has strict policies regarding privacy etc. Below is an extract for a date time:
DTSTART;TZID="GMT":20080901T003000
DTEND;TZID="GMT":20080901T010000

This should be shown on my calendar (australia) from 10:30 am to 11am (on 1th September 2008)

If TZID="GMT" is used, there MUST be a definition of the timezone in the ics file, too - e.g:

BEGIN:VTIMEZONE
TZID:"GMT"
X-LIC-LOCATION:"GMT"
BEGIN:STANDARD
DTSTART:20070101T000000
TZOFFSETTO:+0000
TZOFFSETFROM:+0000
END:STANDARD
END:VTIMEZONE

Is this the case?
If not, it's actually not a "valid ics file" and can't work with ICS4OL (it does need the VTIMEZONE info in the file, compared to other programs - otherwise it will "default to local time"... I will check, if it's easy to support "GMT" directly in next version).

(In the shareware version iCal4OL, it can be done by adding TZID="GMT" to TZID.txt and activated option to ignore the VTIMEZONE definition in the ics file, or by using enhanced option to manually correct the times)

After rfc2445.txt UTC times should be formatted this way:

DTSTART:20080901T003000Z
DTEND:20080901T010000Z

And this will result correctly in +10 hours...  (it's before daylight saving time => first sunday in october AEST)

Re: Time zone problems

Hmmmm, very odd, mine does not contain a definition for this. Out of interest do you have an easy to understand spec of the iCalendar file layout?

Re: Time zone problems

I just implemented it, because it was very easy to do so smile

Download ICS4OL again and install it over... Let me know, if everything works fine now.

There is not an "easy spec" - only in my head... and the original rfc2445.txt is actually very clear (after reading it n times ;-)
